I loved her in those crazy parts; "Suddenly Last Summer" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" She totally ate up the screen in those films.

That's Elizabeth Taylor, Right? It's always Sad when the Great Movie Icons Die.

The Griper said...

yes lista, that is Cleopatra herself.

Apparently, she also Played in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", and as I Child, she was in "Lassie, Come Home". I Saw Both of these Movies, but don't Remember Much About them.

Funny, I Thought Dick Van Dike was in the First of the Two Movies I Mentioned, but I must be Thinking of a Different Movie.

The Griper said...

that she did and she thought those were her best movie roles too.

as for dick van dyke,i believe you are thinking of the movie, "Mary Poppins"

May Elizabeth rest in peace! She was and will remain on my list of favorite actresses.

No, I was not Thinking of "Mary Poppins". That is Far too Obvious, for that is the Movie that he is the Most Famous for, along with Julie Andrews.

No, I was Thinking of the Movie "Singing in the Rain", which Actually wasn't him either, yet if you Watch the Video of Gene Kelly Dancing to that Song, while Ignoring any of the Close Up of his Face, he Dances just like Dick Van Dyke and from a Distance can Easily be Mistaken for him.

The Male Star in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is Paul Newman, who I've Never Really Considered a Dick Van Dyke Look Alike. So I have no Idea what I was Thinking in Relation to that one.

As it Turns Out, Dick Van Dyke has not Done Nearly as many Movies as I had Thought, but Instead Spent the Larger Part of His Career in Television, rather than the Movies.

Back in the day when I was in uniform at a remote US
WMD base, I got an extra assignment: the quartermaster officer left and the relacement one wasn't due for a month. So,
I became Base Theatre Officer in my spare time.
I saw 'Cleopatra' on the available list and had the
canned film tapes (gee that was a long time ago)
mailed in. Standing room only for three nights and
some grateful troops. Liz,
thank you, you were a gracious woman.
