Taxes, What Taxes?

Sha, up in Canada, sent this to me and I thought that each of you would get as big of a smile as I did.

From reading this, I think they need a few tea parties themselves. lol

The Tax Poem

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me
to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'POLITICIANS?'

I can guess why there was no telephone tax 100 years ago..:)

The Griper said...

so can i , BB but guess they just neverr got arouind to determining how to tax smoke signals back then. of course nowdays they would tax them as an envciromental hazard huh? :)

Excellent point, Griper. Now, I'm wondering how the tax authorities would define local vs long distance
smoke signals...or whether the Watercraft Registration Tax applied
to birchbark vessels. heh
(It would be a lark to use H.G. Wells' time machine and check out
1909...bet cellphone reception was
terrible. :)

The Griper said...

if you needed smoke signal there was no local calls. as for registration, wouldn't the canoes fall under carry-outs not driven outs?

as for the time machine, shucks, i think it would be a blast to visit any time future or past.

with all that nice clean air for telephone reception to travel thru instead of this swmog we have now?

This post should be funny, but no... it's not funny at all.

I tried to make my post funny today. I think it fell short too. Things are changing so fast I'm almost getting dizzy!

Sadly, this poem is the truth, as is what you say about it.

Now with the porkulus bill, we can expect even more.

The Griper said...

or at the least we "should" expect more, karen

I was a bit surprised to learn that our opinions of income taxes are evenly divided ..!? I was even more surprised when a 'letter to the editor' showed up in our local paper today claiming that the writer thought paying taxes was a privlege (like voting) reserved for people living in the greatest country on earth. Well, gee, if we had more like him, you and I could skip paying, huh? :)

The Griper said...

what caught my eye on that poll was the fact there was three times as many of lowest income persons who thought their taxes were too low this year vs last year, 2% vs 6%.

Wow BB!,
If these graphs are really correct, than we have reached a nice Compromise for now and when 50% of the Country is happy about something, the rest really shouldn't complain. It worries me, though, what Obama might do in relation to Taxes later. I know that if the Economy wasn't so bad, he would Raise Taxes considerably.

The Griper said...

now, that makes sense, lista. the fact that 50% of the country is pleased necessitates that 50% not be pleased, doesn't it?

Lista said...

Griper,
Unfortunately, that's the nature of Democracy.

One of the things that I noticed in BB's Link is that people are more satisfied with their Tax Rates when the Country is at War. Does this imply that War and National Defense is mainly what the Nations money should be spent on? When it is spent instead on helping the Poor, people become all upset and bent out of shape.

yup
