"Mice are famous for their ability to multiply at breakneck speeds. The type of mouse we have here gives birth once a month, birthing 12 babies each time. Baby mice mature and can give birth two months after they are born.
You picked up one of these cute baby mice at the pet shop and brought it home the day after it was born. In 10 months from now, how many mice will you have?"

I read what was on the paper and when I finished I looked up at grandpa and smiled. Then I said, "grandpa, those teachers at school will never teach me what is important in life like you and grandma do."

ahhhh, me too, me too. i was absolutely taken abaqck the first time i heard it and knew it was meant for here.
Sounds like Grandpa explained 'compound interest'.
(which will undoubtedly lead to mouse inflation) :)
I knew more then the teachers too! Collage was the WORST!
great blog. thanks for it
mmm, nice take, BB, never saw it in that perspective. but, no, your response doesn't address the question. but will say that your response is probably the usual way people would read that. reread it but this time pay a little more attention to "all" the words.
OK, in that event, it depends on whether a male or female mouse is taken home...and on the normal lifespan of a mouse; need we consider a family cat? :)
to do that BB, is to make assumptions because it says nothing about it in the problem presented. and as you know it is assumptions that lead people to jumping to conclusions.
LOL.. That is a great idea Griper.. I will have to pull this one on Jeff and see if he can even come up with an answer.. Then we can work on Kora Jo.... LOL.. That is the luxury of home schooling...
tweety,
its a way to teach others to focus on what the other person is saying instead of how you are going to respond.
this would be especially important in arguments.

you can read, elmer's brother. :) welcome to my home in cyberspace.
Confess to reading and rereading.
You will have to explain...:)

Well good...now I can sleep tonight. :)
think the little woman will be glad to hear that BB. don't think she'd appreciate ya tossin' and turnin all night long. :)
