A Soldier given Comfort

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS?

HERE THIS IS?

READ AND LEARN ABOUT

WHAT A SOLDIER IS

This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace, Now home to the 4th Infantry division.

It will eventually be shipped home

And put in the memorial museum in Fort Hood , TX

The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat, who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad ..

Kalat was so grateful for the Americans liberation of his country; He melted 3 of the heads of the fallen Saddam and made the statue as a memorial to the American soldiers and their fallen warriors.

Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months.

To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms.

This was sent to me in an email by a very dear friend and I just had to share it with you.

UPDATE:

I have had a couple of persons point out to me that the post was misleading in the thoughts as depicted. So for those who would like to read the real story of this memorial here is the link;

Griper,
I will post this as a link and email it out to folks!

I will also post it in my comment section and also on the post with Teddy Bear.

Only the ones that were abused by Saddam get the picture!

Great post!

i thought it deserved being in the limelight also. don't really hear much what is really in the hearts of the Iraqis like this reveals.

Gee, I was told by every Democrat from Murtha and Pelosi on down that the Iraqis hated us and wanted us to get out NOW.

Seems they don't all feel that way hunh?

Show this to that idiot KKK Ken Hoop next time you are over my way Griper.

Again one of the finest memorials to freedom and the men and women who defend it must be created by one who has not known freedom. This statue is indeed one of the most poignant.

thank you anonymous. i did research after i posted it but left it as i posted it because while it may be a bit misleading the thoughts behind it was beautiful in my mind. i have found out in life that all memorials take on a life of their own after time has passed. and if the life of that memorial elevates and inspires others all the better.
